10.05.2008 POSTPONED Buff ACU British Supermono Championship Rounds 3 & 4 Brands Hatch
The 2008 Buff ACU British supermono championship is shaping up to be one of the most exciting and competitive yet. As the start of the season approaches the series has well over 40 registered riders including a number of former and current British and European champions. This is in no small part due to the healthy prize fund on offer courtesy of series sponsors Buff, and the Auto-Cycle Union (ACU).
To add to the excitement and to encourage competition at different levels, the series has been divided into two seperate competitions: the full Supermono championship for all comers and the Supermono cup for riders with  less than a full national race licence. This will give new and less experienced riders the opportunity to compete for their own prize amongst this highly experienced and competitive class.
The first two rounds will be held at Snetterton race circuit in Norfolk on the 12th and 13th of April and are hosted by the British Motorcycle Racing Club.
Rounds 3 and 4 take place on the 10th and 11th of May at the historic Grand Prix circuit at Brands Hatch and will incorporate the first round of the European Supermono championship. A particulary strong field is expected for this round and, for interested spectators, a huge range of machinery wil be on display.
The remaining 7 rounds then take place over a variety of top circuits around England and Wales, as follows:

Rounds 5&6 - Pembrey, Wales                14th-15th June
Rounds 7&8 - Brands Hatch Indie circuit    5th-6th July
Round 9 - Oulton Park, Cheshire                16th August
Rounds 10&11, Cadwell Park, Lincs            4th-5th October

24.05.2008 Gore Bike Wear Road Sportive Series 2008 – Ruthin Round

New for 2008 we are offering something for the road riders out there by adding a sportive to most of the rounds of the Merida Bikes MTB Marathon Series. Amongst the events in Penrith, Selkirk, Builth Wells the Ruthin round will also feature two different road sportive courses to choose from. The road sportives are run on the Saturday of the event weekend with an open start from early in the morning onwards. Following the huge trend of non-competitive road events the GORE BIKEWEAR Road Sportives are trying to set themselves apart from the rest by offering a high quality event package with outstanding courses and first class support around the course plus all inclusive camping, parking, facilities, event meal and finisher present…pretty much the same deal the riders of the marathon series have been enjoying since the very beginning. The road sportives will have two courses on offer – an approx. 80- 100mile and approx. 40-50mile loop. The GORE BIKEWEAR Sportives are run very similarly to the Merida marathons by being one loop events with the start and finish being in the same location as the event village, registration and event camping. Due to legal reasons the Sportives will be started in small waves of riders at set intervals. The start will open at 8am and will stay open for approximately 2 hours to give everybody the chance to have a relaxing start at the time of their choosing.

Merida Bikes MTB Marathon Series 2008 – Ruthin Round

The formally final round of the Merida Bikes MTB Marathon Series has moved onto the earlier date of the 24-25th May 2008 and will be held once again in Ruthin in North Wales with the event being based at the Rugby Club. The Rugby Club will be signposted from Friday afternoon onwards. As in 2007 we will be working again with the LPFRA (Llanferres Playing Field and Recreation Association) who did a fantastic job by providing 65 marshals and making all the tweaks to the Ruthin course work. For 2008 the LPFRA are intending to improve the courses still further with new loops and sections in the pipeline. They are all well experienced mountain bikers with extensive local knowledge who work in partnership with North Wales Mountain Bike Association (http://www.nwmba.org.uk/ ), so it will be once more a great day in Ruthin.
